CityLand Group Sponsors Free Eye Surgeries for 400 Underprivileged Patients
CityLand Group, in collaboration with the Ho Chi Minh City Association for the Support of Poor Patients and Tay Nam Eye Hospital, recently sponsored free cataract surgeries for 400 underprivileged patients in Ho Chi Minh City and neighboring provinces.

A representative from CityLand Group presented the donation for free eye surgeries for 400 disadvantaged patients through the Ho Chi Minh City Association for the Support of Poor Patients.
Cataracts are the leading cause of blindness among the elderly. Statistics show that approximately 50 million people worldwide suffer from severely impaired vision—less than 1/20—due to this condition. Scientific studies also reveal that the incidence of cataracts significantly increases after the age of 50. Notably, nearly 50% of individuals aged 75 to 84 are at risk of developing cataracts, according to findings from the Framingham Eye Study.

According to statistics from the National Institute of Ophthalmology, Vietnam currently has around 2 million people suffering from blindness or visual impairment, one-third of whom are from disadvantaged backgrounds. If left untreated or improperly managed, cataracts can lead to serious complications such as glaucoma, uveitis, eye pain, optic nerve atrophy, and even permanent vision loss.
Aiming to improve community well-being and reduce both the rate of blindness and the burden on the healthcare system, CityLand Group partnered with the Ho Chi Minh City Association for the Support of Poor Patients to sponsor and carry out free cataract surgeries for 400 underprivileged patients at Tay Nam Eye Hospital. Most patients came from Ho Chi Minh City and neighboring provinces such as Tay Ninh, Dong Nai, and Binh Duong, arriving early at the hospital to undergo screening and surgery. All 400 surgeries were successfully performed over three days, from October 27 to 29, 2022.
In addition to receiving free surgeries, the patients were also gifted meaningful care packages from the heartfelt contributions of CityLand Group.

This free eye surgery program was especially meaningful as it took place just before the arrival of the new year 2023. Through this initiative, the Ho Chi Minh City Association for the Support of Poor Patients, Tay Nam Eye Hospital, and CityLand Group hope to help disadvantaged patients regain their sight, thereby improving their daily lives and overall well-being.
