HOTEL ACADEMY VIETNAM (VET BY EHL) HONORED TO WELCOME THE PRIME MINISTER AND DELEGATION FOR AN OFFICIAL VISIT AND WORKING SESSION

In late March, ahead of attending the Conference summarizing 20 years of implementing Decision 178/2004/QĐ-TTg by the Prime Minister on the overall development plan for Phu Quoc Island, Kien Giang Province to 2010 with a vision to 2020, on March 30, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh conducted a field survey to address both urgent and long-term strategic issues essential to Phu Quoc’s rapid and sustainable development.

As part of this important working visit, the Hotel Academy Vietnam (VET by EHL) in Phu Quoc was honored to welcome the Prime Minister, along with a delegation of central government officials and leaders from various departments and agencies of Kien Giang Province, for an official tour and working session at the academy.

Prime Minister Highlights Importance of Skilled Workforce for Phu Quoc’s International Tourism Ambition

Accompanying the Prime Minister during the visit were key government officials including:

  • Minister of Construction Nguyen Thanh Nghi
  • Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Van Hung
  • Minister of Transport Nguyen Van Thang
  • Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Dang Quoc Khanh
  • Secretary of the Kien Giang Provincial Party Committee Do Thanh Binh
along with other leaders from ministries and local authorities.

During the visit, the Prime Minister emphasized two critical priorities for island development: ensuring access to electricity and clean water, and building a comprehensive system of healthcare, education, and social infrastructure. These, he stated, are essential to realizing the vision of transforming Phu Quoc into an international tourism hub.

While surveying the Hotel Academy Vietnam (VET by EHL) campus in Phu Quoc, the Prime Minister posed a key question: “To position Phu Quoc as a global tourism center, how will we meet the demand for skilled labor and vocational training?”

The Prime Minister Commends and Encourages the Expansion of the EHL School Model

The Prime Minister highly praised the Hotel Academy Vietnam (VET by EHL) model, emphasizing the importance of drawing lessons from its implementation and expanding it nationwide. He called on the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs to work closely with Kien Giang Province to assess the current situation, evaluate the capacity to meet labor demands in both quantity and quality, and develop strategic planning for training facilities. This includes attracting high-quality lecturers and strengthening partnerships with major educational institutions across the country.

The focus should be placed on training human resources in Phu Quoc’s key sectors such as logistics, tourism, emerging industries, digital transformation, and green transition. The Prime Minister also stressed the need to mobilize resources from both central and local governments and to promote public-private partnerships.
